Community Infrastructure Levy

Southampton City Council has undertaken an Infrastructure Study and Delivery Plan which identifies the infrastructure requirements of the city and includes a mechanism for the introduction of the Community Infrastructure Levy through the Draft Charging Schedule. CIL came into force in April 2010 and enables local authorities to seek pooled contributions to assist in funding the infrastructure needed to support new development.

Southampton’s Infrastructure Study has a detailed evidence base which includes a Demographics Analysis, an Infrastructure Needs Assessment and a Viability Appraisal. The Planning Obligations Supplementary Planning Document has also been revised to reflect the new approach th developer contributions.

The council has now finished it's consultation on the draft documents and supporting documents (consultation closed on 6 Feb 2012). Please click the links in the “downloadable documents” section below to view the draft documents.

Should you wish to speak to or have any further questions regarding the Community Infrastructure Levy, please contact Jenna Turner on 023 8083 2603.
