National and Regional Background Evidence

There are a range of other national and regional policy and guidance documents which affect Southampton and influence the Local Development Framework, including the Core Strategy.

National Policy
The new National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) was published and came into effect on 27 March 2012.

The NPPF replaces previous National Planning Policy Statements / Guidance and Circulars (below) although the council's adopted Development Plan was based on those policies and they can still be found on the National Archives website (click on the links below and wait to be re-directed by the DCLG website).
