Local Development Scheme

The Local Development Scheme (LDS) sets out the programme for the production of planning documents and development plans in the 'The Local Development Framework (LDF)' over the next 4 years.

As part of the production of the Local Development Framework prescribed by the 2004 Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act, the City Council has to prepare a Local Development Scheme (LDS). This document outlines our three-year rolling programme for the production of planning policy documents, including statutory development plans (Local Development Documents).

The initial LDS was approved by the Secretary of State in April 2005 and subsequently revised in the LDS First Revision in November 2005. This has now been superseded by the LDS Third Revision in February 2009. This is available to view below.

A list of how the Local Plan Policies will be replaced in the Core Strategy, City Centre Action Plan and Sites Allocations & Development Control Policies DPDs is available within the LDS paragraph 7.2.

A list of Southampton City Council’s ‘Saved’ Local Plan Review Policies is available within the LDS appendices.

The Minerals & Waste section of the LDS is being updated. In the meantime, please refer to the County Council webpages.
