Minerals and Waste Local Development Framework

Southampton City Council jointly prepare the Minerals and Waste Local Development Framework (LDF) with Hampshire County Council, Portsmouth City Council and the New Forest National Park Authority. The LDF is used to determine any planning applications which are for or affect minerals or waste development in the city.

The latest information can be found on the Hampshire County Council webpages.

The adopted plans include:

  • The Minerals and Waste Core Strategy (2007) – which sets out the vision, objectives and spatial development strategy;

  • The Minerals and Waste Local Plan (1998) – some of these policies are “saved” so remain in force.

There are also plans in preparation. The Core Strategy is being partially reviewed. Plans will also be produced to identify strategic sites for Minerals and Waste development.
