School zones

Southampton City Council has made a commitment to implement 20 mph zones outside all Southampton schools, with the aim of ensuring drivers are aware of the need for caution at all times when passing a school.

This is supported by the implementation of yellow School Zones, achieved by painting parts of the highway around the boundary of the school.

Billy and Belinda bollards are a very unique of reminding motorists to slow down around our local school. These child shaped bollards are a feature of the school zones package.Billy & Belinda Bollard

The City Council is installing these innovative bollards outside school gates to highlight the school entrance to motorists to encourage them to slow down. The bollards are painted in school uniform colours and are 'adopted' by the pupils.
