Parking permits

In some areas of the city there are residents parking zones. If you live or own a business in one of these areas you will need a parking permit to allow you to park on the road.

This page gives you information on parking permits and how to apply. A parking permit does not guarantee a parking space.

• No charge is currently made for the first resident's permit issued to an address or for visitor's and essential visitor's permits. (Except for zone 17 and 18 where one permit is available per property at a cost of £60)

• Properties built or sub-divided under planning permissions granted since March 2001 may lose any entitlement to permits.

• In some areas (zones 2-12, and 16) provision exists for a second resident's permit to be issued for which a charge of £60 per year will apply. There is limited availability for a second resident's permit in Zone 1.

• If you have a business within a residents parking zone or are a tradesperson working within zones 2 - 12 and 16 you may be able to purchase a Business Permit. Temporary business permits are available for Zone 1.

• Business Permits are £115 for four months and £306 per year.

• Temporary Business Permits are £14 per two weeks. Permits may not be available in all areas so please contact us for further information.

• Suspended bay permits currently cost £14 per day per bay.

• From the 14th December 2009 parking restrictions will apply in Cemetery Road (Zone 19). A provision has been made for Concessionary permits at £13 per year for those people whose place of work is on the Common or in the Old Cemetery. Please complete the application form available below.
