Improving the Street Scene and general environment for the residents and businesses in the city is one of the Council's top 5 Priorities.
Southampton City Council is working hard to improve the street and public areas across the city and investing to make the streets a better place to be.
It is important to everyone living or visiting the city they are able to easily identify where they are in the city and where they need to get to. This is where the role of the street name plate is essential to everyone, particularly in assisting the emergency services on a call.
Southampton City Council are responsible for the repair and maintenance of all highway street name plates. This may range from the cleaning of dirty name plates to the replacement of vandalised or broken name plates.
The Council aim to provide a standard of recycled aluminium or plastic signs across the city and in the city's heritage areas an enamel sign in keeping with the surroundings.
