Commercial Parking

town_depot

An operator licence is needed by a business or person wanting to transport goods on a commercial basis using a vehicle which, when fully loaded weighs more than 3.5 tonnes. Vehicles between 3.5 and 7.5 tonnes plated weight usually are double wheeled at the rear.

Vehicles exceeding 7.5 tonnes can be recognised by their requirement for rear markings

Vehicle Safety Chevron

One of the conditions of an operator's licence is that their vehicles have an Operating Centre with appropriate access for Heavy Goods Vehicles.

If such vehicles are being parked overnight in unauthorised areas, the owner could be in breach of their licence.

If you think this is the case; It would be a matter for the Vehicle & Operator Service Agency

There are no on-street parking restrictions or concessions within the city that specifically apply to commercial vehicles.

Owners of larger vehicles requiring a residents parking permit should note the following:

  • Certain resident parking schemes restrict the length of a vehicle or, the number of seats a vehicle may have

Where parking bays are marked on highway, there is also a requirement that all four wheels of a vehicle are parked within the area of the bay.
