Temporary traffic management plans

Temporary Traffic Management PlansThese pages provide information on traffic management requirements for those who wish to occupy the public highway to carry out road works or hold special events such as street parties.

Before you can occupy the public highway, you must submit a traffic management plan in conjunction with your application for the relevant licence/permission from Network Management. This is to ensure that the works or special event will not cause pedestrians or road users any danger and to cause the least amount of inconvenience possible to all.

All temporary traffic management plans should be submitted at least 2 full weeks in advance of the proposed start date.

A plan showing your proposed traffic management method, which must comply with Chapter 8 of the Traffic Signs Manual and related Codes of Practice must include:

  • The position of advance warning signs, barriers etc

  • Dimensions of available road width once the traffic management is in place

If you are unsure whether or not you need to submit a traffic management plan or just require further assistance please contact Network Management using the details provided below.
