A licence is necessary if you are placing any type of crane or other equipment on the public highway or if any part of the crane or its load will over-sail the public highway at any time during the lift.

A site plan, to scale, showing the crane's position and over-sail area with dimensions
A copy the Risk Assessment & Method Statement relating to this job
Evidence of £10 million Public Liability Insurance
Start, end and contingency dates & times
A Traffic Management Plan complying with Chapter 8 of the Traffic Signs Manual & related Codes of Practice
The type of work to be undertaken
A copy of the crane specification catalogue entry which must include dimensions, weight, jib capacity and limits
Where appropriate, a copy of the way-leave agreement or permission from landowners who will be over-sailed will need to be provided
