Trees in ex-council properties

Southampton City Council requires that permission is requested in writing for any works to trees on ex-council owned properties. All ex-council properties have a deed of covenant and this clearly states the legal responsibility of the owner. This is to safeguard the future protection of trees on council land after the sale of the land. Purchasers must not fell, top or lop any trees on the property without the prior consent of the council.

If you would like to carry out works to trees subject to a deed of covenant please complete an application form. You will need to provide details of the location of the tree, a plan/drawing, details of what works you would like to carry out and the reasons why.
