Venue Hire Information

1. Westgate Hall (formerly known as Tudor Merchant's Hall)

Westgate Hall is TMH-wedding-1a flexible venue, this beautiful hall creates a fantastic backdrop for civil marriages, wedding receptions, private parties, concerts, lectures, meetings and conferences.

The hall is a 15th century timber-framed building. It originally stood in St Michael’s Square, where it was used for the storage and sale of woollen cloth. Westgate Hall benefits from being located in Southampton's historic old town. The main hall is on the first floor. A reception area, cloakrooms, accessible toilet and a kitchenette are situated on the ground floor.

As an attractive and unusual building with a unique history, it makes it a perfect location to hold your wedding day. Westgate Hall can be used for both civil ceremonies and receptions. With a maximum capacity of 80 persons and 60 for a sit down wedding breakfast.

Westgate Hall can also used for meetings and the room can be set up to suit your requirements. We can provide a data projector, laptop and screen to facilitate your meeting, please ask for costs at time of booking.

2. Southampton City Art Gallery

wedding-hireSouthampton City Art Gallery is one of the most stunning venues for Civil Ceremonies in the City.

Paintings and sculptures provide a wonderful backdrop for couples seeking somewhere unique and the gallery spaces provide a harmonious environment for an unforgettable day. Seating can be provided in the Gallery for up to the maximum occupancy of 120 with a maximum of 80 accommodated by our beautiful window in the main Gallery.

3. Tudor House and Garden

Tudor House before repairTudor House is arguably Southampton’s most important historic building. The impressive timber framed house encompasses over 500 years of history on one site. A new lift will make the first floor accessible for the very first time.

Opportunities to book the cafe, gardens and function room for events such as small weddings, civil ceremonies, cocktail parties, birthday parties, meetings and seminars; a wonderful setting for both business and social functions. The out door space maybe suitable for a wide range of other events from theatrical performances to music recitals and exhibitions.

4. Medieval Vaults

The historic medieval vaults offer something rather unique and different to your event. Various vaults can be hired from a minimum of one hour. Choose from Castle vault, 94 High Street vault, Quilters vault and many more.

Please note that only some vaults maybe applicable for hire; they are not all accessible and none of the vaults have toilet facilities.

The Art Gallery Shop

Shop cards

The gift shop has moved upstairs to the main hall of the Art Gallery. We still stock a wide range of postcards, greeting cards, prints, stationery, handbags, hand-made jewellery and gifts. Shop stock changes on a regular basis, so drop in to see what new gift ideas we have to offer.

Please note the shop is located in the Gallery on the 1st Floor and is fully accessible via a lift.
