The exhibition 'A Better Life?' looks at the emigration of orphan or destitute children from Southampton to Canada. Somewhere around 80 000 children are estimated to have been sent from Britain to Canada through child migration schemes from the 1870s to 1914. 'A Better Life?' tells the story of one of these children - Frank Bray, who left the South Stoneham workhouse in 1906 at the age of 14.
