This View of Southampton was painted by local artist Frederick lee Bridell in 1855. It spent more than 100 years in Western Australia before being returned to Southampton. It is currently on display in the Maritime Museum.

A set of 45 views of the construction of Ocean Dock has recently been acquired. This fills a gap in our knowledge about dock development in Southampton. The particular card illustrated shows the erection of the passenger terminal from which the Titanic sailed.
