Study Day: An Introduction to Landscape Painters and Painting

Led by Jennie Spiers, this informal day will be spent exploring and comparing the art of some of the greatest and most innovative landscape painters in Art History. We shall be looking at several of the works of Turner, Constable, Monet, alongside paintings by more modern artists - Cy Twombly, David Hockney and Clare Woods - and learning how to read these works so that we can gain the maximum amount of enjoyment and understanding of them. There will be a tour of the Clare Woods exhibition in the afternoon. This course will suit beginners as well as art lovers with more knowledge of the history of art.
