For some time Southampton City Council has had an ambition to create a cultural heart to the city - an area alive with arts, heritage, entertainment, events, music, colour and dramatic architecture, a setting to which artists and performers will be drawn, and a place for the public to visit and enjoy.
The Cultural Quarter is a key part of our wider plans for the regeneration and economic development of the city. The Cultural Quarter proposals are helping to bring in around £175m of private and public investment to this area of the city. The investment in the Cultural Quarter is expected to bring in more than 2000 direct jobs and an additional £21m of visitor spend each year.
