Are you eligible for a concessionary library card?
If you have a disability that means you receive state benefits (see list below) or you have a Southampton City Council Sensory Services card or a letter from the Council's Day Services or Learning Disabilities Team stating you have a learning disability.

• Severe Disablement Allowance (to be replaced by the Employment and Support Allowance)
How do I get a concessionary library card?
To get your card all you have to do is take your benefit book/letter to the library to show you qualify and we will do the rest. If you are already a member of the library we can convert your existing card to concessionary status.
For under 18's only a form is required, completed and signed by a doctor, optician, or head teacher. A copy of the form can be downloaded from the 'downloadable documents' section further down this page.
What are the benefits of having a concessionary library card?

• Membership of the new annual CD and DVD subscription scheme is half price! You pay only £25
• Book Finding Service - half price - standard £1.50, EXTRA £2.50
NB Please be aware even if you are a concessionary card holder, fines will be payable on items returned late, with the exception of books on cassette, CD and MP3, information DVDs and CD-ROMs, where fines will not be charged.
