Joining the Library

Top Tasks
Join the library

Everyone can join the library and it's free. You can apply for a library card online or take proof of name and address to your local library.

We accept the following as proof of name and address:
• Current Driving Licence
• Gas, telephone, electricity bill
• Bank Statement
• Tenancy Agreement
• Addressed envelope received at home

A parent or guardian should provide proof of name and address for children and young people under the age of 18.

Temporary membership
Membership options are available if you are a visitor to the city or do not have a permanent address. Please ask staff for details.

Group membership
Reading groups and music groups can also join the library
