Bookstart - creating a love for reading

Bookstart Bear Logo

Bookstart is about inspiring a love of books in children from birth. The schemes encourages parents and children to share and enjoy books together and make reading fun.

Working with locally-based health visitors and children's services, Bookstart gives the gift of free books to babies and pre-schoolers.

Bookstart (For babies aged 0-12 months)
Discover board books, information about the library, and a list of books to read with your baby plus much more! Packs are available from your health visitor when your baby is aged 7 - 9 months.

Bookstart Treasure Chest
This pack is for pre-school children aged 3-4 years. My Bookstart Treasure Chest is gifted by your child's nursery or playgroup, or other early years settings.

Bookstart Book Crawl: under fours
The Book Crawl encourages parents to take out library membership for their children and borrow books. Children collect stickers on each visit and can then exchange four stickers for a certificate. There are ten certificates to collect.
