Living with Cancer? We’re here to help
Books and information about cancer available to borrow (this may take a while to download)
Macmillan Cancer Support now has a permanent information area at Southampton Central Library. Library staff can help you to find the information you want, and you can make an appointment to speak to a member of Macmillan staff in person. You will also find a computer available for confidential research about cancer, and library staff can help you to use this if necessary.
We provide lots of free information about anything to do with cancer which you can read at the library or take home with you. This includes books, leaflets, CDs and DVDs and some recommended websites. There is also some information to help children who may be affected in some way. There is Macmillan information in every library in Southampton, with the main resources held at Central, Shirley, Lordshill and Bitterne. Resources can be borrowed from any library using a library card and can be reserved free of charge if they are on loan to another borrower.
We can also support and listen to people affected by cancer by offering confidential appointments which can provide:
• Someone to talk to
• Help with finding and understanding cancer related information
• Sign posting to other organisations, including counselling and self-help support groups
• Guided access of IT resources and Internet sites
To find out more, or if you want to talk to Macmillan staff in person you can ask the library staff to make you an appointment, or call 02380 832460, or email: Macmillan@southampton.gov.uk
