Volunteering at Thornhill Library

Picture of people in silhouetteThornhill Library.......It's your library
Thornhill Library will be re-opening in July 2012 in the new community centre in Hinkler Place. Would you like the library to be run by local people, for local people and provide the kind of services you want to see? Then we need your help to make this happen.

In a completely new approach to providing libraries we are looking for people who want to run their local library. With other members of the local community you will be responsible for the direction the service should take and make it reflect the needs and aspirations of Thornhill. Supported by a member of library staff you will also provide the day to day service. This might include helping people to:

• Borrow and return books
• Use computers
• Find information
• Organise activities for children

This is a great opportunity for people who are passionate about Thornhill and about libraries to improve both for the good of their local community.

The same volunteering experience is available at Millbrook library which re-opened as a community facility in 2011 at the MP3 Centre, Mansell Park Pavilion, Millbrook.

To find out more and and take advantage of any of the volunteering opportunities please return to the volunteering page, download the information pack and application form from the 'downloadable documents section' at the bottom of the page.
