How will this impact on me if I wish to spectate or use the routes?

We are working with LOCOG, the Police and other partners on the detail of how the event will work. We are looking to minimise any disruption to businesses or the public.

We are all keen to support the Olympic Torch Relay and for people to turn out and support our local Torchbearers to celebrate the passage of the Torch and herald the forthcoming Games.

When further information is available we will post this here and advise local media.

Impact on businesses

Together with our partners, we will work with local businesses to keep them informed of the temporary impact of the Relay. We are expecting a greater footfall in the area on the day, which obviously has potential benefits for local businesses and the city of Southampton.

Unauthorised marketing

The success of the Torch Relay is dependent on the invaluable contribution of all LOCOG's presenting partners and supporters that are vital to making the Relay happen and in meeting the costs of staging the event.

LOCOG is obliged to the International Olympic Committee to protect the Olympic and London 2012 brands, and to commercial partners to protect their investment from unauthorised marketing. They do this by educating people and businesses so that they do not inadvertently engage in unauthorised marketing and, where necessary, by enforcing the legal rights they have available to them - which they are committed to doing in a proportionate and pragmatic manner.

For more information on LOCOG's Olympic and Paralympic Brand Protection Guidelines, please visit their website at London 2012 Brand Protection.

This page will be updated as and when more information is available.
