The Friends of Southampton Old Cemetery drop-in - Sunday, 15 March 2014
The Friends of Southampton Old Cemetery, will be hosting a 'drop in' at The Hawthorns Centre on Saturday, 15 March 2014 between 10am - 1pm, when you can come along and meet some of the members and find out about the history and wildlife of The Old Cemetery.
Volunteers also have access to the burial database and cemetery maps for those wishing to locate a particular grave or research their family history. Tel: 07538 888 655 for more details.
Illustrated talk, 'How Plants Affect Our Lives' by local botanist, Celia Cox - Sunday, 16 March 2014
On Sunday, 16 March 2014 at 2pm there is an illustrated talk, 'How Plants Affect Our Lives' by local botanist, Celia Cox. Whilst we recognise the obvious connections between the fruit and vegetables we eat and the plant where it comes from, there are many others where the origin of the plant materials used in not so obvious. This talk looks at the different ways people and plants are connected.
Spring Clean Up at Chessel Bay - Saturday, 5 April 2014
For those of you that like a more 'hands on' activity, you could join in with the Spring Clean Up at Chessel Bay, off Quayside Road, on Saturday, 5 April 2014 between 10am - 2pm. You don't have to come for the whole session, just join in for as long as you want. Gloves and litter pickers are provided but please wear sturdy shoes and dress for the weather. Under 16's must be accompanied by an adult. Please note there are no toilets on site and parking is limited.
