Riverside Park

The recently formed Friends of Riverside Park have been working closely with the council to make improvements in the park. This has included refurbishing one of the three play areas and vegetation clearance to generally improve the appearance of the park. We have also worked together to identify improvements to bins, seats and signs which have been installed, completely refreshing the park.
The vision
The vision for Riverside Park, developed by the friends group is; ‘For Riverside Park to be a destination park making the most of its unique river access and wildlife, with something for everyone providing a range of play and sporting activities. The park will be fun, friendly and eventful with a strong community spirit helping to make it a clean, safe, attractive and healthy place to be.’
Unique access to the River Itchen
The park is unique in providing access to the River Itchen and has a wide range of facilities for local people to enjoy. The model railway, cycle training track, football and cricket pitches, 18 hole pitch and putt, wide range of wildlife and three play areas attract lots of people into the park.
