Energy and Environment - Oaklands Pool

Southampton City Council is committed to protecting the environment and promoting energy conservation across all of its leisure venues.

To achieve this, Oaklands Pool currently undertake the following initiatives:

• Temperature controls for the swimming pools
• Occupancy sensors in the centre
• Recycling of paper, bottles, cans and ink cartridges
• Pool cover to retain the heat
• Housekeeping- monitoring of lights and computers
• Energy efficient light bulbs
• Air con units turned off at night and weekends
• Review utility usage and try to reduce
• Reduce carbon footprint following advice from the Carbon trust survey
• Environment plan for the centre
• Staff energy awareness training
