Exclusions and suspensions

Southampton City Council Inclusion Services Team provides information, advice and support to parents when their child has been suspended or permanently excluded from school. We recognise that it can be a confusing and distressing time for parents and their child.

If your child is the subject of a suspension or a permanent exclusion, please read the information provided here which will help you to understand what should have happened and what happens next.

We strongly recommend that you keep the lines of communication open with your child and their school to try and determine the underlying cause of your child's behaviour and then resolve any issues.
