Electoral Registration and Voting
Anyone who is included on the Electoral Register is able to vote. These pages give information about electoral registration, postal voting, candidates for election, election management and election results.
Council tax and benefits
Council tax helps to meet the cost of local services and also to pay for the fire brigade and police. For those on a low income, the benefits service helps people meet their housing and council tax costs.

Building and planning teams look after Southampton’s built environment and consist of several departments linked together. They manage the whole process from developing the Local Plan all the way through to ensuring historic buildings are preserved for future generations. It also deals with climate change and conservation issues, listed buildings and archaeology
