Customer Services Excellence Awards
Make a nomination for our excellence awards online today, using the link on the right hand side of this page
What are the Excellence Awards?
We know that many of our customers are impressed with the way that our staff deal with them or carry out services for them. Until now, our customers have not been able to let us formally know of these experiences and we haven't be able to pass on both our and the customer's thanks to the members of staff concerned.
The external award is for our customers who may want to nominate a member of staff, who has:
Given exceptional customer service to you or a friend
Gone out of their way "and above the call of duty" to assist you
Given you consistent excellent service on an ongoing basis.
We're looking for those exceptional and outstanding experiences of good customer service. This is your opportunity to let us know when you think we have got it right and excelled!
How do I nominate somebody?
There are several easy ways to nominate somebody.

Go to your nearest council office and ask for a form - or ask a member of staff to record the details for you and forward them to Customer Services.
What happens when you have nominated somebody?
Every person nominated will receive a letter confirming they have been nominated. If you prefer the person you are nominating not to know who you are and the comments you have made, we won't include your details.
Your nomination will then be then be entered into our quarterly competition and we will choose a winner.
Who chooses the winner?
Winners will be chosen every quarter by a panel of 3 people - we're currently looking for panel members, so if you are interested in joining a panel, we'd like to hear from you (our contact details are at the bottom of the page)
The quarterly winner
Every quarter we will choose a winner from the External and Internal Categories. The winner will be notified by Customer Services and then invited to an awards ceremony at the Civic Centre. We also publicise the name and details of the winning entrant in City View.
The awards ceremony
The winners will be invited to attend a presentation and awards ceremony in the Mayor's Parlour at the Civic Centre. At the ceremony the winner will be presented with various gifts to commemorate the day, including a certificate and £50 worth of vouchers to spend in a store of their choice. We'll also take some photographs of the winner for our staff magazine and external publication, City View.
Please read before nominating:
Guidelines on how to make your nomination a winner - Excellence Awards - Make yours a winning nomination!
The scheme is not for teams, but for individual members of staff. If however, you feel a team works well and provides good service we would still be happy to hear from you and will pass your comments on.
We need to have more than "does a good job" or "is a nice person"- please make sure you give as much detailed information as to what the person did that makes them "extra special" or to show how they have gone out of their way to provide Excellent Service.
Remember that you can add a separate sheet of paper to the form, if you cannot get all the information on the form.
You can also use the online form where there is more space to write your nomination.
Remember - In order to determine the winner, judges are looking for those outstanding examples of excellent service - you will increase your nominee's chance of winning the award by showing how they have gone out of their way. Many people in the council provide good customer care and many entries reflect this with comments such as "... is a really nice person, helpful and always polite to customers etc." This is commendable - such nominations are very welcome, and the nominees certainly deserve to be recognised; but the winner will be someone who has gone the extra mile.
