Email Policy

The Council increasingly offers a lot of its services through electronic means. This includes the use of email as a means of communicating with us.

If you do send us an email, you need to be aware that we check its contents before we release it to the person who you sent it to. We do this by using a combination of different software that detects unacceptable content, certain attachment types, viruses, spam (junk emails) and anything else that we consider unacceptable.

The kind of things that we look for are:

• Common obscenities
• Profanities
• Pornographic phrases
• Phrases of a sexual nature
• Junk email, also known as spam
• Viruses and other malicious software
• Certain attachment types (please see below)

If you send us an email that contains any of the above, it will not be delivered to the person who you sent it to and you will receive a short email telling you so. If you do receive an “undelivered” email from us, you will need to check that your email doesn’t contain anything that might fall foul of the rules above.
