Road maintenance
Southampton City Council and partners are responsible for year-round maintenance of the city's roads, including street lighting, street cleansing, and gritting and snow clearance during the colder months of the year. Gritting and snow clearance
The winter maintenance service for Southampton runs from 1 November to the end of March every year.
Street lighting
We maintain Southampton's street lighting as part of a contract with Tay Valley Lighting.
Street cleaning
Our local street cleansing teams undertake regular street sweeping and litter picking seven days a week, and respond promptly to urgent requests.
