Good quality shoes can be given to a charity shop or put in a textile and shoe bank at local recycling sites.

Shredded paper
Shredded paper cannot be recycled in your blue-lidded recycling bin as it is too small and light to be processed by recycling machinery. Pieces of general junk mail that just contain your name and address at the top can be marked through with a black marker or torn out without the need to shred the whole sheet of paper. Shredded paper can be composted or used as bedding for small animals.

Many charity shops will accept stamps which are then sold to dealers to raise funds. Some charities such as the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Ambulance take donations of stamps which can be taken to their office at 22 Oriana Way, Nursling, Southampton, SO16 0YU. Telephone: 023 8074 3510 or email: enquiries@hiowaa.org

Sugar bags
