Southampton Port Health Services is responsible for carrying out all the statutory functions of the Port Health Authority in Southampton sea port and airport.

Our statutory boundary encompasses:

  • The Easter Docks base for transatlantic liner operations, Western Docks
  • The Container Terminals
  • Marchwood Military Port
  • Marine Oil Terminals at Fawley
  • Hamble Grain Terminals, river wharfs and the city airport

Being one of the busiest UK Ports, we monitor over 1.5 million TEU (Twenty Equivalent Unit) container movements and over 80,000 shipping movements per year.

Southampton is also one of Europe's leading turnaround cruise ports, welcoming around two million passengers annually to its five cruise terminals. At Southampton Port Health we play a vital role in the prevention and control of communicable infectious diseases onto the UK mainland.
