
The City of Southampton award recognises people or groups who have made an exceptional contribution to the life of the city. The presentation is made at the city council's annual meeting in May each year by the out going Mayor. The winners for 2020 have not yet been formalised.
2019 award winners
Jan Peirson
Jan was nominated because of her long and continued support for the Rose Road Association. As an ambassador for Rose Road, Jan has brought together and inspired volunteers, supporters and businesses to help local disabled children and young adults to thrive.
Her fundraising efforts have generated over £60000 and enabled the centre to purchase essential, specialist equipment to give the young people the best possible support and opportunities.
Ram ‘Kelly’ Kalyan
Kelly has used his position as Project Station Manager for Unity 101 Community Radio over the past 13 years, to bring the local community together, engaging with charities, partners and businesses to promote cohesion and resolve local issues through a range of community events including the Derby Run, Hands of Love Festival and the Zone 4 Residents Association
