Care leavers

We are able to support our young people who have left care up until the age of 25.

If you are stuck, have a problem or just need some extra advice or support you can come back to us.

Assessing your needs

We will do a needs assessment with you. The assessment may only need to look at the reason you contacted us. If there is more that we can help with than you thought we can do a more detailed assessment. You are in control of how detailed the assessment is.

We may not be able to solve everything ourselves. If we can't, we will point you in the right direction. A Personal Advisor can support and advocate for you with others when needed.

This support may be about one thing only so you don't need a full pathway plan to do this. Some people may need or want a full pathway plan and that is fine too.

This is about ensuring that you have the right level of support at the right time. Our service to you will usually be around advice, guidance and advocacy, rather than financial support. However, we can support you in how to seek financial guidance where needed.

We are there to support you, and if there is a clear assessment of need, we may sometimes be able to offer very short-term financial support.

What we can support you with

The sort of things that we may be able to offer support and guidance on are:

  • Becoming a parent
  • Emotional and physical health needs
  • Advice on housing and financial issues
  • Starting work or going back to education
  • Support around leaving the criminal justice system if applicable
  • Domestic abuse or any form of exploitation

There may be other things that you need advice or support on, so please contact us if you need to. You can contact us about anything that you want advice and support about and we will do what we can to help.

Remember, we can offer a full pathway planning service too - it is your service, so you can decide what you need help with. We may advise that you need more support than you ask for, but it will be up to you to decide if you want to have this.

You can contact us when you are ready

If you want support, you don't have to remain open to the service for a long time. You can stay in touch until you decide that the things you contacted us about are sorted out.

Even if you decide not to take any support, you can come back to us again up until the age of 25 to get more advice. It's worth remembering that the earlier you ask for our support the more time we will have to help out.
