Prepaid Card Information for Appointeeship Clients
Your care manager will talk to you about how to use your prepaid card.
What the card is for
When the Council looks after your money your care
manager will agree with you how much money you need
and how often you need it. This money is put on your card.
This could be:
- Once a week
- Once a month
Your card will have your name on it, and you will need to keep it safe.
You will need a PIN Number to use your card.
What is a PIN number?
The first time you use your card your care manager will help you choose 4 numbers that are easy for you to remember.
The number is special to you and you must not tell other people your PIN number.
You will need to put your PIN Number into the cashpoint or the handheld machine in shops.
How often can I use my card?
When you have money on your card you can use it. If the money runs out you can’t. The prepaid card will only let you take out the amount of money as agreed with your care manager.
If your money runs out and you need some more you will need to speak to your Care Manager.
Where can I use my card?
You can get cash from a cashpoint machine – you will need to use your PIN number to do this.
You can buy things from shops, this might be ‘contactless’ or you might need your PIN number.
You can buy things on the internet.
- You cannot ask for money in a shop. This is called “cash back”
- When you buy things you need to make sure you have enough money on the card to pay for them

If you lose your card or think it’s been stolen
Call allpay Customer Services on 0330 808 0102 and select the Lost & Stolen option.
As soon as this is done, your card will be immediately blocked, which stops other people using the card. You will need to tell your Care Manager there has been a problem as soon as possible.
