Why an Employer Recognition Scheme?
Looking after staff health and wellbeing makes good business sense and is a key part of being a good employer.
Southampton City Council wants to recognise and celebrate organisations that contribute to the prosperity of the city and its people by helping to make it a happy and healthy place to live and work.
Annual action plan
Recognition is for committing to an annual action plan. This includes:
- Culture - at a strategic level creating a safe, inclusive and healthy environment where people flourish by embedding health and wellbeing into the fabric of your organisation. Making consideration of wellbeing 'a golden thread' through the whole organisation
- Leadership - translating the policies into practice by training and developing leaders and managers in how to establish and maintain positive and supportive working relationships within and across teams
- Wellbeing - at an individual level, encouraging all staff to look after and invest in their own physical health and/or mental wealth
In a healthy and thriving workplace these three elements work together to create and sustain a thriving organisation.
In a changing jobs market, organisations who look after their staff can expect lower levels of absence, longer retention, easier recruitment and better engagement. The Wellbeing@Work Employer certificate and branding shows your commitment to staff wellbeing, and happier, healthier staff are good for your business.
Is it for me?
The scheme is free, and relevant to all organisations within Southampton. There is support to develop your Action Plan and access to a supported network of Wellbeing Champions.
