Full marks for our Telecare service

Auditors from Telecare Services Association carried out a full inspection earlier this year for their Quality Standards Framework (a national scheme designed to set standards in health and social care)

Telecare customers already know how effective this lifesaving service is, but we’ve recently received official endorsement following an inspection.

Telecare Services Association recognised our service, which provides help at the touch of a button, as well run and successful in meeting customers’ needs. The auditors praised staff for their dedication to improving safety standards and their unwavering service during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Telecare offers peace of mind that support is available 24/7. Customers can call for help by pressing a button in their home, or on a pendant worn round their neck or on their wrist. They are instantly connected to a member of our Telecare team who can summon support by contacting a key holder, family member, the emergency services or the Telecare response team.

Lynda, a tenant from the central area says Telecare is invaluable to her: “It is vital for anyone like me who is susceptible to falls because you can summon help straight away.”

All our supported housing schemes and our accommodation for people aged over 50 have an alarm which is linked to the Telecare Control Room. This includes our housing with care schemes which provide more support than sheltered housing but still allow residents to live independently. Check out next month’s issue of Tenants Link for a full report on Potters Court, our latest housing with care scheme which has just opened in Maybush.

The Telecare service is also available for people living in private homes and currently there are around 9,000 Telecare customers across the region.

As well as the emergency alarm system, Telecare customers can also benefit from a range of further equipment such as falls detectors, temperature sensors and bed or chair exit monitors which are designed to help keep older and vulnerable people safe and secure at home.
