Caring for someone? Know your rights.
People often don’t see themselves as carers. If you 're looking after a partner, child, relative, friend or neighbour who couldn't cope without your help then you may be missing out on vital practical and financial support with negative consequences for your own health and finances.
Carers' Rights Day brings organisations across the UK together, helping carers in their local community to know their rights and find out how to get the help and support they are entitled to. If you are caring for someone at the moment and would like to find out more about your rights then visit the Carers UK website.
Many carers have money worries. Nearly 8 out of 10 families caring for someone say it has had an impact on their finances. The free Carers' Card offers great discounts which can really help.
This Carers Rights Day on Friday 24 November in Southampton, Carers in Southampton will remind unpaid carers about the free Carers' Card by handing out wallet sized information leaflets around the Royal South Hants Hospital.
These leaflets invite unpaid carers to request a Carer's Card by phoning 023 8058 2387 or via the Carers in Southampton website.
