Annual General Meeting 2021 to be a physical public meeting
Following a recent High Court ruling most remote council meetings ceased from Thursday 6 May
As a result, we will be holding our Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Wednesday 19 May as a physical public meeting. This will be at the Southampton 02 Guildhall at 2pm.
As with any other Council meeting all elected members will be present along with core Council officers and it is open to the public. We will also be live streaming the meeting online, you can watch it here.
The AGM will be conducted in a fully COVID-19 compliant, socially distanced and safe manner. Mask wearing is requested by all attendees (if not exempt). Attendees will be encouraged to complete a COVID-19 Lateral Flow Test (LFT) before arrival and any public attending will need to complete details for Test and Trace purposes.
The meeting will be shorter than usual with only essential business conducted. This will include election of the new Mayor and Sherriff where we welcome Councillor Alex Houghton as the 799th Right Worshipful Mayor of the City of Southampton for 2021-2022. The ceremonial aspects including awarding of citizen and business awards will be deferred to the July Full Council meeting which is likely to take place in the Guildhall.
