Want to get involved?

We are looking for organisations across Southampton, Totton, Eastleigh and Hedge End to run a range of events that engage locals in 2020 – and we are offering small grants (up to £4K) to help you deliver them. Ideas for activities could include, but are not limited to:

  • Bike check-ups/repairs
  • Maintenance workshops
  • Cycle training to help people feel more confident to cycle on the road
  • Learn to ride sessions
  • Led rides or walks that help people find and use local cycle paths and low traffic routes
  • Events giving people the opportunity to try a range of bikes
  • Temporary street closures
  • Activity trails

We want to get more people cycling, so events should target non-regular cyclists and focus on helping them undertake meaningful journeys e.g. to work/education, to the shops.

It is your responsibility to ensure that activities adhere to any current social distancing guidelines. Your grant application can cover measures to help implement this e.g. cones.

What next?

Once you have read the Application Guidance, please complete the attached Application Form and return to activetravel@myjourneysouthampton.com by Friday 18 December 2020, at midday. We will let you know whether your application is successful within 20 working days of receipt.

If you don’t need a small grant but would still like to get involved please let us know as we can help you spread the word about your activities through our website and social media channels.
