Voluntary and community grants

Grants are available to support the work and activities of local voluntary and community groups that benefit Southampton city residents.

These grants are open to voluntary and community groups only. For information on other support available from the council please see the ‘Other types of council support’ section below and contact the relevant department directly.

How to apply for a grant

For details about grant schemes that are open for application please visit the individual pages for each scheme. Links to the individual grant scheme pages can be found in the navigation menu of this page.

Each grant scheme has its own application guidelines and application form. Please make sure you read the application guidelines for the grant scheme you want to apply to before you apply.

We are unable to accept grant applications outside of our published grant schemes. Other sources of funding can be found in our monthly Funding Bulletins.

Funding for individuals

In common with many other local authorities we do not fund individuals, e.g. someone who needs help with the cost of higher education or help with the replacing heating, or someone looking for funding to volunteer at an overseas project.

You may find it helpful to look at the various grants, funding and sponsorship guides in the Central Library. They usually list the organisations that offer support and indicate who is eligible to apply for funding.
