What happens next?

Once you have registered you will receive an email with a link to confirm your registration. The link will take you straight to the online application website to begin your application. It is very important that you confirm your registration.

If you cannot find your confirmation email, please check your spam or junk folders. If you cannot click the link, copy and paste it into your browser's address bar.

Please remember your password and the answer to your security question so that you can access your account at any time.

Your Citizen Portal homepage will have:

  • My Account - edit your personal details
  • School admissions - apply for a school place and review existing school applications
  • Funded Early Education for Two Year Olds - apply for funded early years education
  • Messages - not currently in use. Any messages will be sent via your registered email address
  • My Family - add details about your children

Frequently asked questions

I have completed the registration form but have not received a confirmation email

It is possible that the email has been quarantined by anti-spam measures taken by your Internet Service Provider or by settings in your email client. Please check your junk or spam folders.

An account already exists for your email address

Your email address has already been registered, maybe for another child. Follow the 'Forgotten your password?' option to reset your account.

Your username or password is invalid

If you created an account to apply for a school place before September 2015, you will need to create a new Citizen Portal account.

If you have an account for MySouthampton, housing rent online, or for our e-store payments system, you will still need to register separately with the Citizen Portal.

Passwords are case sensitive. Please try turning Caps Lock on or off. If this does not help, try the 'Forgotten your password?' option to reset your account.

You have forgotten your password

Try the 'Forgotten your password?' option. You'll need to enter your email address and provide an answer to a security question. If successfully answered, an email will then be sent to your registered email address with instructions to reset your password.

You've registered but it says your account is not valid

A confirmation email will be sent to you when you register with the Citizen Portal. You will need to validate your email address by visiting the link in the email. This will activate your account and you will be able to log in. If you cannot find your confirmation email, please check your spam or junk folders.
