Your Concierge Service providing value for money

If you live in or visit one of our 19 tower blocks of flats across the city you’ll benefit from our concierge service, which is available 24/7 to assist residents and visitors whilst keeping buildings safe and secure.

Costing each resident just over £3 a week, the service, which is run by our partner Balfour Beatty, offers excellent value for money in terms of improving safety and enhancing security.

CCTV cameras monitor blocks from a central control room which is staffed 24/7 by a fully licensed team of security specialists in the control room. They keep an eye on the camera images day and night to provide a capable guardian to the residents, and are able to challenge anyone who is misbehaving and contact the emergency services if needed. CCTV cameras cover the lobby, lift and outside areas of every block meaning they are a useful tool in deterring people from causing a nuisance, and in providing the police with evidence of crime or antisocial behaviour.

Thanks to our CCTV footage the police have successfully arrested and charged many perpetrators over the years, ensuring criminals are punished and residents can feel safer. Just last month the CCTV cameras captured a thief stealing council belongings and we have passed the footage to the police so that the culprit can be identified and arrested.

As well as monitoring CCTV cameras, concierge staff in the control room also assist tenants and leaseholders using a video intercom system which is installed in each flat. The team are on hand to talk with anyone who rings the intercom day or night with concerns about security in the block. The concierge system ensures only residents with a key fob or visitors with a legitimate reason to access the building are permitted inside. Royal Mail is the only company that has agreed access to our buildings so if you are expecting a visitor or a delivery you will need to be at home to let them inside the block.

If you’re not sure how to use the intercom handset in your flat simply contact your Local Housing Office and we will arrange for a Neighbourhood Warden to visit you and show you how the system works.

The concierge service is an invaluable tool in keeping communities safe and secure but please remember that staff in the control room are there to deal with building security and not to answer general tenancy issues. If you have a tenancy query simply visit our housing pages to access lots of useful services 24/7 from reporting a repair to paying your rent or reading your Tenancy Agreement.

Look out for posters coming soon to noticeboards with useful contact details for a variety of council teams.
