Computer courses

We offer computer courses at several of our libraries, these include:

iPad & Android training for beginners

A great introduction to iPads and Android tablets for new owners or those thinking of buying one. Equally suitable for those who own an iPad or Android tablet but would like to get more out of it. We have devices available to use on the day if you don't own one. No prior knowledge is necessary and the session is completely free.

To register your interest for our next run of these courses please contact 023 8083 2971.

Digital Champions

Ask a librarian how our friendly Digital Champions can help you on a one-to-one basis. Teaming up with a Digital Champion is a good option for beginners. Contact the library on 023 8083 3007 to learn more about these sessions. Residents of the City Centre, Bitterne, Portswood, Woolston, Lordshill and Shirley can ask at their regional library how they can learn more about using computers.

Have you ever considered putting your IT skills to good use and helping library customers learn how to use a computer? If so, Southampton Libraries would love to offer you free training to help you become a true Digital Champion.

You don't have to be a computer expert. Helping someone to use email or search online might just make their day. If you are patient and have a desire to help others with a range of computer related tasks, please call to book a place on one of our six-hour courses on 023 8083 2162. All sessions take place in Southampton Central Library Learning Centre.

Google Digital Garage

Free tutorials from Google on everything from your website to online marketing and beyond. Choose the topics you want to learn, or complete the whole online course for a certification from Google and IAB Europe. Unfortunately face to face support is no longer available for this course.
