Following a detailed consultation, Southampton City Council has taken the decision to introduce 10-minute free parking at select locations across the city

Residents and visitors will now be able to park at the following locations and utilise the 10-minute free parking tariff:

  • Compton Walk Car Park
  • Commercial Road / Wyndham Place Car Parks
  • London Road
  • Queensway
  • St. Marys Street
  • Bevois Valley Car Park
  • Amoy Street / Wilton Avenue Car Parks

Cllr Jeremy Moulton, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Growth said:

“As part of our election campaign we promised to improve access to parking within the city. This decision is an important step towards delivering on that promise and helping to Get Southampton Moving. We believe that these proposals will support local businesses that rely on passing trade and provide a boost for the local economy.”

The new options will be provided as an option in addition to existing tariffs. Users must still select a ticket and display this in their car window, as they would usually.
