Southampton City Council, in partnership with Balfour Beatty Living Places, have delivered two road improvement schemes to support the new park and ride – the layout of the Frogmore Lane / Brownhill Way junction immediately to the southeast of the facility was simplified to reduce delays and increase capacity, as well as reducing bus journey times. Improvements were also carried out at the Coxford Road / Lord's Hill Way junction introducing a new rapid bus lane to improve bus journey times. Both schemes were funded by the Department for Transport’s Transforming Cities Fund.

Parking costs just £2.50 per month. The car park is open between 6:30am and 10pm daily and the dedicated bus service runs every 10-15 minutes during peak hours. Discussions are ongoing with Southampton City Council over the opportunity for weekend operations of the facility for public use for travel into Southampton.

Councillor Eamonn Keogh, Cabinet Member for Transport and District Regeneration, comments:

“The new park and ride facility is an important project for Southampton that not only addresses local parking issues around the main hospital campus but also opens up the future opportunities for public use for special events and to access the city centre.

The Frogmore Lane / Brownhill Road and Coxford Road junction schemes will enable quicker journey times for the park and ride buses to and from the hospital as well as other buses and road users. I am pleased we have been able to work with colleagues at University Hospital Southampton to improve the links to the facility and we hope that patients, visitors and local residents will all benefit from these improvements.”
