Emerging development plans
New plans are drafted, consulted upon and published on a regular basis.
They will replace the adopted Local Plan and include:
- Citywide Local Plan - consultation on the first phase of this plan is now closed. This plan will update all the site allocations, designations and development management policies for the city. The plan will be informed by a wide range of existing and emerging evidence including the PUSH Spatial Position Statement which was approved by the Partnership for Urban South Hampshire (PUSH) Joint Committee on 7 June 2016. This will be used to inform housing and employment development targets. Further details of the timetable for preparing the new Local Plan are included in the Local Development Scheme.
The Southampton Tall Buildings Study jointly commissioned with Historic England published May 2017 will be adopted as a SPD when the Local Plan is adopted.
The revised Houses in Multiple Occupation Supplementary Planning Document was adopted on 4 May 2016.
The City Centre Action Plan and Core Strategy Partial Review were adopted on 18 March 2015. Further information can be found under Adopted Plans.
