Being a carer is very rewarding and also a comfort to know that what I do makes someone else’s day that little bit brighter.

"I started caring at 18 years old. When I first started I really wasn't sure if this job was for me but 13 years later I'm still doing it. Being a carer is very rewarding and also a comfort to know that what I do makes someone else’s day that little bit brighter.

"I always start my day by walking into their homes with a smile and positive attitude. I'm very lucky to have the round that I have; most days I have the same people that I care for, which makes them feel at ease knowing that they have a familiar face every day. My usual morning mostly starts with personal care. This can vary from showering, body washing, continence care, dressing into clean clothes etc which sets them up to be comfortable for the day. I always like to give a few choices for breakfast with a tea or coffee, leaving them happy which makes me happy.

"Some days are easier than others. You may come up against a challenge which the office is always on hand to help with and resolving these challenges is just as rewarding."

I find my work very fulfilling, and I am proud of the work I do.

"I work in complex care and I very much enjoy my job. The pandemic has been a difficult time for everyone but it made me realise that people like me have a huge impact on the lives of the people we support. I find my work very fulfilling, and I am proud of the work I do and the difference carers make to the lives of the people we support."

I love my work as it gives you a warm feeling inside that you are making a difference to someone’s life

"Being a care worker makes me very proud and I love my work as it gives you a warm feeling inside that you are making a difference to someone’s life - knowing what you do can put a smile on their faces and your actions are making someone’s life better."

For me care work is a fulfilling way to spend my days and I feel a great sense of pride in what I do.

"I made the decision to get in to complex care support this year after my grandmother passed away. I had first been primarily my grandad's carer in 2014 and then after he passed my grandma's health declined and I cared for her. For me care work is a fulfilling way to spend my days and I feel a great sense of pride in what I do."
