The new specialist resource base for deaf children at Newlands Primary School was completed in 2023 and is a purpose-built single-storey extension off the junior wing of the existing school.
The resource base includes:
- Two classrooms
- Therapy room
- Group room
- Staff working room
- Storage facilities
- Toilet facilities

On Tuesday 17 January, Southampton City Council’s Cabinet gave approval for the construction of a new specialist deaf facility at Newlands Primary School.
The new resource base will be a purpose built space for deaf children and will be a single storey extension of the existing school which will include:
- Two new classrooms
- Two groups rooms
- Staff working room
- Toilet facilities
