A-Level results in Southampton: Almost a third achieved A* or A

The proportion of top A-Level grades attained in Southampton has increased again this year

This year, almost a third (31.8%) of Southampton entries achieved an A-Level A* or A Grade, an increase on the proportion of entries achieving the same grades in 2020.

A year-on-year increase was also seen in the proportion of entries attaining grades A* to C, which has risen by 2.6 per cent to 87.2 per cent.

Councillor James Baillie, Cabinet member for Education at Southampton City Council, said:

“I’d like to say a huge well done to all pupils across Southampton who are collecting their A Level results today and who should feel very proud of what they have achieved. They’ve worked hard through their studies during what have often been difficult and challenging circumstances, showing real resilience and determination in the course of attaining these achievements.

“I’d also like to recognise and thank teachers, parents and carers and everyone else who worked tirelessly to help young people with their learning throughout the pandemic. You should all be proud of the role that you have played in giving these young adults a successful start in life.”
